Our Story in the Press
Wonder Yard Schoolhouse began as a campaign by parents refusing to let a beloved school close. The press followed that story from the first rally to the takeover, and beyond.

Our second Straits Times feature. Five months after taking over, we shared what we've learnt from the inside about why Singapore's small preschools are disappearing, and how we're fighting to be the exception. Debate on pre-school funding and independent centers
Our school's story reached Parliament. During a debate on early childhood funding, the closure of our center (and the parents who took it over) was cited as a case study of the pressures facing Singapore's independent, play-based preschools. We're grateful the questions we live with daily are being asked at a national level. As reported by The Online Citizen.

"Parents rally to save beloved Serangoon pre-school from closing"
The national paper covered our open house campaign: 52 parents printing flyers, making videos and hanging banners to save the school, then known as Pre-School By-The-Park @ Li Hwan. 39 families visited that open house, and it worked. Also syndicated on AsiaOne.
The Independent Singapore — December 2025
"Parents work together to save a beloved preschool from closure"
By December the campaign was no longer just current parents. Alumni families and even parents who hadn't enrolled yet were pitching in. All proof that what we were fighting for was bigger than any one child's place.
8days — November 2025
"Parents rally to save beloved Lorong Chuan preschool from closure"
The very first press coverage, before we were owners, before we even knew if the school could be saved. 8days visited on a Saturday afternoon and met the parents who'd dubbed themselves the "Avengers": making videos, printing flyers, paying for ads out of their own pockets, and building a campaign website… All because none of us had realized how tough things had become for the teachers we loved.

Wonder Yard Schoolhouse Pte Ltd (formerly Pre-school By-The-Park (Li Hwan) Pte Ltd) is independently owned and operated, with no affiliation to any other operator of that name. Same campus at 22 Li Hwan View, same community, same 17-year heritage — now parent-owned, effective April 2026.
